Children’s Sacramental Preparation

Once children are old enough to begin to understand the meaning of their faith and the Sacraments, they are invited to join our parish Sacramental Preparation program.

The Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation or Confession) is available to children in Year 3 and above. Once they have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation, children are able to enrol in the preparation for the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Holy Communion. We open enrolments for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in Term 3, and in for Confirmation and First Holy Communion in Term 1 the following year.

The Sacramental preparation is based on a workbook that children are to work through with their parents or guardians. There are also several parish formation sessions that children and parents must attend, as well as presentations at Sunday Mass. These events are essential for an adequate preparation of the children for these important Sacraments.
